Student Drop Off
Emerado offers a bus loop on the south side of the building. There is no parking allowed in the bus loop between 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and between 3:15 p.m. - 4:15 p.m.
On Early Dismissal days, no parking in the bus loop is permitted between 8:15 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. and between 2:15 p.m. - 3:15 p.m. If using the bus loop outside of these posted times, park briefly, using the south side of the loop.
For quick drop-offs, parents/guardians may use the drop-off loop at the east end of the building. A maximum of 10 minutes is permitted in this loop. Using the Emerado Park parking lot, west of the school, is also recommended for dropping off or picking up students.
If parking for longer periods of time, park on the street or in the Emerado Park parking lot west of the school.
Outdoor Recess
Students are required to play outside during the morning, lunch, and afternoon recesses. Exceptions will be made in inclement weather (rainy or extreme cold). Wind chill factors are used to assist in this decision. Duty teachers monitor the weather via the internet (weather.gc.ca) to confirm temperatures and wind chills. The following are guidelines for making decisions regarding keeping students indoors.
- -27 to -35 (including wind factor)
- Risk of frostbite in prolonged exposures
- Shortened recess (duty staff will radio the office to ring the early bell)
- -35 and colder (including wind factor)
- Risk of frostbite in 10 to 15 minutes
- Indoor recess (students will remain inside)
